Keekaroo Peanut Changer
A solid, closed-cell changing pad with no cover to launder — wipe it like a counter and you're done. Roughly six thousand changes without a single load of laundry.

Why this one
A newborn is changed eight to ten times a day, and a conventional pad needs a cloth cover that gets soiled and laundered on that same schedule. The Peanut is a single piece of impermeable, closed-cell foam: nothing soaks in, nothing to strip off, a wipe and it's clean. That removes an entire laundry loop from the first two years.
The practical detail: the surface is soft enough that babies don't object to bare contact, and it's contoured with a strap for the wriggling months. It is heavy, and it costs several times a basic pad — which is exactly the price of never washing a changing-pad cover again.
Buying the pad that removes a chore rather than adds one is the pattern of this entire list; six thousand changes later, the arithmetic is obvious.
What we considered and rejected
Hatch Grow (smart changing pad)
Adds a scale and an app; useful for weight-tracking anxiety, otherwise an expensive way to get the same wipeable surface.
Still a good pick for: Families told to monitor weight closely.
Basic contoured pad + 3 covers
A fraction of the price; the covers are the cost — in laundry, every day.
Still a good pick for: Tight budgets that don't mind the laundry.
